11 June 2002 (A/ES-10/179-S/2002/654)
Letter sent by Dr. Nasser Al-Kidwa, Ambassador and Permanent
Observer of Palestine to the U.N., to the Secretary-General of the United
Nations, the President of the Security Council, and the President of the
General Assembly: (Call on UN Security Council to Prevent Israeli
Incursions)
Israeli occupying forces continue to reoccupy the Palestinian
City of Ramallah and continue to impose a military siege on the headquarters
of the President of the Palestinian Authority in the city. The Israeli
occupying forces have also continued to commit atrocities against the
Palestinian people in those areas, using tanks and helicopter gunships to
carry out assaults. The extremely dangerous political repercussions of these
ongoing Israeli actions must be underscored, especially in light of what the
Israeli government might perceive as encouragement by certain quarters.
The Council should condemn such illegal Israeli actions and
ensure the immediate withdrawal of the occupying forces and to take actions to
prevent any reoccurrence in the future. We once again, call on the Security
Council to immediately consider the situation and take the necessary measures
in this regard.
In follow-up to my previous 125 letters to you regarding the
ongoing crisis in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem,
